THE STRAND IS OPEN OCCASIONALLY FOR FILMS & SPECIAL LIVE EVENTS

The Kutztown Strand Theatre was purchased in 2023 by the Kutztown Community Partnership and is currently undergoing major upgrades and renovations that will breathe new life into this historic theatre in our community.

To ensure the success of this project, KCP is delighted to collaborate with a talented team. DESCCO Design and Construction is the project manager, and Derck and Edson is the architectural firm working on the master plan, which will include a few renderings. Their expertise and passion will play a crucial role in honoring the essence of the theatre while elevating it to new heights.

Grant funding was secured with the help of Berks County, the Berks Development Fund, and Senator Judy Schwank and was used specifically be used for the purchase and for mechanical upgrades.

A new roof, HVAC system, and electrical intake panel were installed in October and November 2024 as the first Phase of the renovation. While these upgrades will not have a noticeable impact, they are essential for the building to be reopened.

Cosmetic upgrades to the Strand will take time and additional funds. We are very grateful to the Greater Berks Development Fund, on behalf of the Northeast Berks Main Street Foundation, for securing a second LSA grant that will enable continued renovations to the historic Strand Theatre. This grant enables us to complete additional life-safety improvements and bathroom renovations at the Strand Theater. These updates are essential to ensuring the comfort and safety of our guests and paving the way for the theater's exciting return to cinema screenings and the introduction of live performances.
